Providing Relief in Japan

AfterIn an effort to help the people of Japan following the tsunami on March 11, North Point Ministries would like to make it easy for you to donate money to assist in the relief effort. While it is a common response to give of your surplus (clothes, blankets, etc.), money is the most helpful and appropriate way to support victims of this natural disaster.
There are many reputable Christian charities that are involved in the relief effort. As you evaluate your options, make sure you designate your donation directly to the relief work in Japan. Please consider giving to one of the organizations we have listed below.
World Vision
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

Their teams around the world provide aid to vulnerable children and families that are clinging to survival in the wake of natural and man-made disasters. In response to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, World Vision is equipped to respond quickly because of their two decades of work in Japan and their experience responding to the massive Kobe earthquake that hit there in 1995.

TEAM (The Evangelical Alliance Mission) partnering with CRASH (Christian Relief, Assistance, Support, and Hope)
TEAM is a church-planting organization that has worked in Japan for some time. They are linking up with CRASH during the aftermath of the tsunami and earthquake to provide relief to the Japanese people.

CRASH is a network supporting Christians doing relief work in Japan and around the world. CRASH equips and prepares churches and missions to be there to help their communities when disasters strike and coordinates Christian volunteers to work with local ministries in the event of a disaster. TEAM is filtering donations for CRASH because CRASH doesn't have a way to receive donations directly online in America.

Remember that it will take Japan a long time to recover from this disaster. Right now, it's valuable to give to charities providing immediate relief. But, with time, it's useful to give again to nonprofit organizations working to help Japan recover and rebuild.
